Field Engineer (Central Valley Division) Job at Harris Construction Inc., Co.
Main Goal
To assist project staff to ensure all trade-craft work is planned, scheduled, understood, and put in place consistent with the approved project schedule and project documents. The goal of this position is to build a fundamental understanding of trade work coordination and to ultimately grow into the Project Superintendent role.
Responsibilities, Authorities, and Key Result Areas
· Provide support to the project staff required for the execution of the work and assist with the resolution of field problems, as necessary.
· Assist the project staff in developing and maintaining as-built drawings and other work tasks and assist with/review submittals, change orders, RFI’s, and budget forecasting.
· Assist with the development and implementation of weekly short-interval schedules. Monitor and maintain scheduled activities to ensure the project stays on schedule
· Assist with providing daily project documentation through Daily Reports, pictures, etc.
· Perform elements of the processes involved in budgeting and controlling costs so that the project can be completed within the approved budget.
· Assist in the implementation of the site safety program as required and ensure subcontractor compliance with HCCI safety standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
· Review all work as it is being placed to be sure it is installed within accepted tolerances.
· Review contract drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to ensure proper coordination and installations.
· Other duties, as assigned.
Reports to: Project Manager and Superintendent
Qualifications:
· Basic knowledge of the construction industry
· Awareness of technical terminology
· Understand the sequence of construction
· An understanding of fundamental business activities and procedures
· Effective oral and written communication skills
· A basic understanding of plan reading
· Degree in Construction related field preferred
Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) efficiency
