About this Position:
Equipment Service Coordinator to lead, implement, and communicate a plan for completing building related renewal projects to maintain a high-quality facility. Lead, supervise, direct, and train equipment service staff project team. Monitor progress and performance against the project plan; resolve operational problems, minimize delays, identify, develop, and gather necessary resources to maintain success. Typical project values range up to $2M. Ability to perform and manage all the following project responsibilities with minimal oversight; Schedule, Budget, Scope of Work, Bid, Award, Design, Permitting, Construction, Close-out, and contractor management. Focus to maximize cost efficiency and usability while minimizing risk to production and maintenance downtime. Constant interaction with customer departments. Communicate effectively.
This position is within the Facilities department within Honda Development & Manufacturing of America, LLC’s (HDMA). The Facilities department is responsible for the building which includes new construction, remodels, utility management (electric, compressed air, natural gas, water), building maintenance, end of life equipment replacements and upgrades. The goal of the department is to create a facility that we are proud of and serve our customers.
Responsibilities include:
- Operations Management – Utilize technical knowledge of mechanical/electrical equipment design and specification, infrastructure systems, project management, analytical decision-making, risk assessment, and troubleshooting / problem solving, to manage facilities-related operations to meet or exceed organization metrics. Apply analytical and troubleshooting skills to minimize mean time to recovery. Ensure utilities are maintained and operational to meet production requirements.
- Technical Subject Management – Manage utility infrastructure reliability, capacity, and safety. Develop tracking / reporting to accurately communicate consumption, identify / resolve abnormalities, assess utility capacity versus demand, and analyze operational trends. Plan and execute necessary utility outage activities, including appropriate customer communication and support. Evaluate new technology and manage system end-of-life characteristics, seeking opportunities for infrastructure innovation.
- Technical Project Management - Work with internal customers and external consultants, contractors, and suppliers to develop initial project concept, specification, design, scope, fabrication/construction, and installation. Manage the bidding, evaluation, and selection process of contractors for the design and construction of Facilities and department led projects. Create project budgets and ensure accuracy. Supervise engineers and on-site contractors. Communicate and work with department design team members, bringing technical expertise and knowledge to projects, and managing the overall execution of projects. Determine and prioritize project tasks and develop project schedule and timelines to achieve project's final goals on time and in budget. Implement new engineering strategies and technologies to replace facilities equipment and systems at their end of life (EOL).
- Budget Management - Maintain organizational budgets for capital investment and expense activities, such as maintenance and repair of facility assets and contracted support services. Budget responsibility exceeds $2M annually. Budget responsibilities include formulating requests, tracking expenditures, analyzing trends, and adjusting budgets to address business needs.
Who we are seeking:
Required Experience:
Minimum of 6-10 years of relevant work experience
Required Education:
2-year technical degree including 6+ years of technical experience OR 10+ years of relevant technical experience.
Other job-specific skills:
Knowledge / Experience Required: Strong subject matter knowledge of industrial utility and infrastructure systems through design, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities. Peripheral knowledge of building / campus facilities management and operations, including construction skilled trades.
Knowledge / Experience Preferred: Project management experience. Knowledge of building codes, governing regulations, and industry standards, such as NFPA, NEC, OSHA, EPA, and local building and utility-related codes. Experience with asset management system software. Construction skilled trades, journeyman, master electrician, plumber, pipe fitter, etc.
Skills Required: Effective oral and written communication and presentation skills; customer focus (building productive relationships); Microsoft Office.
Demonstrated Abilities: Effective communication of ideas to gain consensus from individuals or teams. Technical proficiency with expertise on some of the topics within area of expertise. Balancing multiple projects simultaneously. Comprehending technical drawings and specifications. Planning and executing special projects and reporting. Working well in a collaborative environment.
Honda Factors: Ability to balance the wants / needs of the customer with Facilities operational requirements. Knowledge of Honda project flow, budgeting, and cost reporting. Project tracking and reporting for PDCA development.
