Extruder Operator
Service Wire is a premier manufacturer of industrial, utility, and commercial wire and cable. Our regional manufacturing location in Houston is seeking to add a conscientious and team-oriented Extrusion Operator to our organization.
Must be able to work either 2nd or 3rd shift - 3pm to 11:30pm or 11pm to 7:30am ($1/hr. shift differential will be added to pay for either shift).
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set-up and prepare extrusion machine and auxiliary equipment including hoppers, cooling troughs, take-ups, and payoffs
- Adjust and maintain controls to regulate speed, pressure, temperature, thickness, print legend, and jacketing color according to production specifications
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery and cleaning to include purging materials, changing tips and dies, etc.
- Prepare legible reports and record daily production information
- Conduct routine quality checks as defined by product specifications
- Maintain safety standards and organized work environment
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 2 years related experience of equivalent training
- Basic math and measuring skills
- Ability to read, comprehend, and respond to general instructions and directions
- Ability to stand and move about facility for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds. Assistance provided as needed.
- Extrusion experience is a plus
