Responsibilities of an accountant are more than reviewing historical trends within the company. Accountants at Central Maine Motors are forecasting future trends by department to achieve overall financial success. Responsibilities also include accurate and timely processing, reconciliation and reporting of transactions, as well as for prompt, friendly and courteous service to anyone who may come in contact with the dealership including customers, potential customers and service providers that may contact us. This position will also be crossed trained with other areas of the accounting/Business office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL DUTIES

  • Completes review of repair orders and parts slips and performs necessary adjustments; including: reconciling parts and service sales tax reports to the general ledger
  • Processes & codes internal repair orders daily & reconciles sublet clearing accounts
  • Codes/posts manufacturer invoices; includes reconciliation of weekly statements
  • Maintains inventory control and the ordering of State Inspection Stickers for all locations.
  • Assists with day-to-day bookkeeping functions, as assigned.
  • Assists with month-end and year-end procedures:

· Completes oil and propane inventory reconciliation

· Completes statistical data for all stores

· Assists with review of trend analysis

· Prepares monthly extended service contract report and related reports (Portfolio, GTL, Express Auto Gap, Express Systems) and remit payments for all stores. Post extended service contracts purchased outside of deals.

· Completes yearly renewal for service contract license

· Completes monthly parts reconciliation for all stores

· Prints weekly policy reports for managers

· Prepare RO & counter ticket gross profit reports

· Processes annual renewal of dealer plate registrations in a timely manner

· Updates Annual Property Tax spreadsheet upon receiving invoices. Updates/posts standard entry

· Reconciles intercompany accounts at the end of each month.

· Reconciles accounting schedules

  • Identifies process improvements, areas for cost savings and increased accuracy/productivity and makes recommendations to improve company operations whenever possible.
  • Assists others with daily work when necessary and provides assistance to the Administrative Team as requested.
