The Center for Women and Families provides free services to people of all identities who have experienced intimate partner violence and sexual assault. We help our clients and their dependent children become survivors through trauma-informed advocacy. Our goal is to mitigate the impact of their trauma by reducing their risk factors and building their resiliency. We serve anyone in Jefferson, Bullitt, Spencer, Shelby, Oldham, Henry, and Trimble counties in Kentucky and Floyd and Clark counties in Indiana.
The Emergency Shelter Resident Advocate - Children's Program is responsible for supporting the essential daily living needs of individuals experiencing homelessness due to intimate partner violence and/or sexual assault in a 24/7 emergency shelter. While focusing on the family unit individually and collectively, they actively assess the needs of the shelter community and manage a caseload of clients working toward self-directed goals, under direct supervision. They are empathetic, client-centered, collaborative, and professional with the individuals we serve.
This position is scheduled for Tuesday - Saturday, 3pm - 11:30pm.

Duties and Responsibilities
Guide weekly client-centered sessions with children and aid families in identifying immediate needs and viable goals.
Support shift lead, groups, walk-in clients, child enrichment, pet needs, and shelter space readiness.
Engage as an active contributor to Emergency Shelter and Center wide initiatives
Document prompt and timely interactions with clients and other relevant activities to examine program goals and outcomes and support continuous improvement
Provide Harm Reduction Model of Care.
Attend required trainings and participate in continuing education opportunities and in-services.
Participate in conflict resolution with peers and clients as needed
Assists with client desk, call center and hospital advocacy coverage as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree.
Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets CWF automobile insurance requirements.
Fluency in languages other than English are a plus.

The Center requires the basic round of COVID vaccinations and highly recommends boosters. The Center also requires all employees to wear a mask and maintain a distance of 6 feet while working.
