Your Role:

The ERM-Capital Management Consultant works to manage risk by providing complex risk analysis and support to senior management and internal clients. With minimal direction, works cross-functionally to support complex issues across the spectrum of risk, financial risk, capital management, and business resilience. Operating with independence, exercises judgement to solve highly complex and diverse problems within assigned areas, as well as new and ambiguous situations for which there is no precedent. You will be able to prioritize own work and design and propose new direction.

Your Work:

Primary: Capital Management:

  • Develops and effectively implements across the organization an economic capital framework including capital determination and allocation, profitability target setting, risk profile optimization, and decision making/strategy input.

  • Helps the enterprise understand the balance between growth and profitability by illustrating the interplay of various combinations of combined ratio and growth on our capital position

  • Analyzes and communicates the effectiveness and return on equity of our ceded reinsurance program options

  • Establishes risk tolerances that are tied to our capital position and ensures our risk taking is aligned with our capital objectives.

  • Prepares required Capital reporting (quarterly to ERM leadership team, Risk Committee, and Finance & Investment Committee of the Board; annually to AM Best) and helps drive explicit consideration of long-term capital needs and desired financial performance.

Secondary: Risk Management:

  • Develops and implements ERM (Enterprise Risk Management) process, including risk identification, ownership, scoring, monitoring, reporting, mitigation quantification and planning.

  • Manage and respond to external ERM compliance and reporting requirements.

  • Prepare and present Board reports and updates (quarterly reports to Audit Committee & annual reports to the full Board).

What would make us excited about you?

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related areas (MA Degree preferred)

  • 8+ years of related professional experience in ERM or relevant experience in related fields

  • Strong understanding of insurance finance including income statement and balance sheet, investments, and reinsurance (5+ years in P&C Insurance industry preferred)

  • Ability to translate and integrate wider business strategy into subject matter agendas and analysis of insurance finance including income statement and balance sheet, investments, and reinsurance.

  • Broad actuarial skillset with deep understanding of pricing, reserving, ERM, statutory accounting, and risk and return concepts (preferred)

  • Competent risk modeling skills

  • Strong mathematical skills

  • Confirmed ability to project manage to accurately complete complex projects within tight deadlines, including ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.

  • A problem solver with strong analytical skills. Able to quickly gain a working knowledge of the company's operations and overall business goals and objectives

  • A resource for business and shared services customers; able to coordinate and prioritize demands from several customers at the same time

  • Strategic vision and ability to build business case scenarios.

  • Ability to negotiate and collaborate with all levels of personnel from end users to executive management. Ability to influence with or without formal authority.

  • Ability to lead, mentor and provide training and guidance to others

The national average salary range for this position is $119,250-$132,500. However, we have a location-based compensation structure. Our salary ranges vary and are calculated based on county of residence. The full salary range for this position across all the states we hire in is $107,280-$159,200. This role also includes an opportunity for a company-wide annual discretionary bonus, through our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP), of up to 12% of eligible pay.
