Position Title: Equestrian Center Attendant
Rate of Pay: $17.00 per hour
Position Purpose:
Performs manual labor to maintain operations in the equestrian center facility. Assist in the maintenance of general community areas in equestrian center. Provides a variety of support to OC Fair & Event Center staff, boarders, trainers and the general public users of the Equestrian Center facility. This is a seasonal/temporary position not to exceed 119 days.
Essential Functions:
  • Performs manual labor in the equestrian center facility area, including daily cleaning to maintain the appearance of the area.
  • Cleaning up manure as needed.
  • Maintains and repairs various structures, signs and exhibits in the equestrian center area.
  • May operate equipment including forklifts, man lifts, tractors, carts and hand/power tools.
  • Performs a variety of janitorial duties to maintain cleanliness of the equestrian center area.
  • Installing and dismantling of signage and pens as needed.
  • Assists in inventory of tools and equipment. Including areas that feed and bedding are stored.
  • Assists in daily coordination of contractor communication as it relates to horse feeding, box stall cleaning and arena maintenance including verifying that all work is being performed.
  • Serves as a representative to the boarders, trainers and public users of the equestrian center.
  • Maintains the cleanliness and appearance of equestrian center area for animal and public safety.

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with all types of people in a fast-paced environment necessary.
  • Ability to use hand/powers tools.
  • Must be enthusiastic and able to handle occasional stressful situations effectively
  • Attention to detail a must.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work outside the normal business day/week as demanded by events and programs.
Preferences:
  • Previous experience working with horses/livestock animals desired.
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment such as forklift, man lift, tractor and carts, as well as various hand/power tools in a safe and proper manner necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear. Extended periods of standing and walking involved. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally lift and/or move moderate to heavy objects up to 50 pounds, which requires frequent and proper bending.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
Will work in a fast-paced, environment in an outdoor, and sometimes indoor, environment during all types of weather.
