JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary and Objective
The Engineering Material Planner plays an integral role as the primary liaison between Supply Chain and the Program Engineering team. This person will create and execute Material Product Strategies and the Material Product Plans to ensure the flawless execution of products and programs from the front end of the business through contract closure. A qualified and ambitious candidate will have the opportunity to combine communication and analytical skills with creativity to lead Blue Halo toward achieving greater operational efficiency and growth. The ideal candidate will have a passion for accelerating the success of a rapidly growing business. The candidate will possess a strong understanding of defense programs to be able to contribute to the organizational strategic execution planning process. The position allows a candidate to focus on improving the operations of running a small business while working in an innovative environment with regular interactions with leaders, staff, and suppliers.
Essential Functions
- Individual will be expected to be a focal point in the organization, prioritization, and scheduling of tasks associated with hardware procurement and build activity in conjunction with Engineering Leads, Program Leads, Quality personnel, Finance, internal or external manufacturing facilities as well as other elements within Engineering, and Supply Chain Management.
- Must be able to work in conjunction with engineering to develop accurate Bill of Materials (BOM’s) from the technical baseline within a few days of proposal kickoff, control changes in the BOM during the proposal process, and promptly flow any changes to material estimating and develop a strategy to get representative costs.
- Individual will be responsible for ensuring quality, cost, and schedule requirements are met for engineering hardware and identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Monitor procurement performance metrics and proactively acts to address program and functional issues.
- Manage the system of collecting program organizational needs. Conduct planning and executing to those needs to include reporting of metrics.
- Strong Earned Value Management and Financial management skills, including Material EAC’s and Material Forecasting.
- Derive insights from current operations to recommend organizational improvements in all phases of supply chain and program management.
- Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to build proper infrastructure for growth.

Qualifications:Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree with 7-15 years of business and/or programs experience
- Minimum of 6 years of combined work experience (can include Graduate school experience) in functional areas of Supply Chain, Engineering, or Project Management
- Knowledge of U.S. Government acquisition laws and regulations (Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR))
- Active DoD Secret Clearance
- US. Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance
- Experience providing inputs into or reviewing Estimates at Complete (EACs), especially material EACs
- Proven Experience with import and export laws (International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR))
- Experience working with Arena, Microsoft 365, and Impromptu reporting
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s in engineering
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business
