The Role:
The database team works on all aspects of the query executing within Druid that includes SQL planning, query optimization, query functions and distributed query execution. As a manager of this team, you'll be responsible for building the team, ensuring that the team is working together effectively, and that the team is delivering on what's expected from them. You'll use OKRs to make sure your team is aligned in terms of the larger organizational goals and that they know what is expected of them. You'll also be responsible for making sure team members individually feel satisfied with the work they are doing, that they feel challenged and growing.
Responsibilities:

• Hire a strong team of database engineers
• Work toward growth of your team members through active feedback and coaching
• Work closely with product management and engineering leadership to build a roadmap for your team
• Help the field engineering in supporting our customers
• Help the Apache Druid community grow
• Engage in code and design reviews when needed

Requirements:

• 5 years of engineering experience and 2 years of engineering management experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional work experience)
• Experience working on internals of large-scale distributed systems and databases
• Strong communication skills. Explaining complex technical concepts to designers, support, and other engineers is no problem for you

Bonus Points:

• A history of open-source contributions is a plus. Being a committer on a data-related project is a big plus

Individual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications aligned with Imply's internal levelings guidelines and benchmarks. The below range encompasses roles with on target earnings. This role is also eligible to participate in Imply's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
Compensation: $135,000 - $278,000
