Stevenson Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Engineer-In-Training to join our Norfolk, VA office. This position is for an Engineer-In-Training responsible for performing subsurface engineering investigations and construction materials and engineering assignments under the direction of a Professional Engineer. This is a hands-on field position with excellent opportunity for growth.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare engineering reports, including the evaluation of collected field and laboratory results, preparation of figures and drawings, to document contractor’s work methods, test results, and the interpretation of these tests
• Provide field oversight for Special Inspection during construction related to subgrade inspection, controlled fill, in-place density testing, foundation installation (driven/drilled piles), reinforced steel placement, steel inspection, bolting inspection
• Underpinning and Support of Excavation (SOE) experience a plus
• Work closely with senior-level project manager and Professional Engineer of Record to gain project management and engineering experience
• Maintain quality standards on all projects
• Prepare proposals and reports for approval by senior level professionals
• Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management
• Perform various field and laboratory tests on soils, concrete, and aggregate materials
• Assist with technician training, as needed
• Coordinate project assignments with other engineers and technicians
• Develop solutions, makes recommendations, and prepare engineering reports for review
• Develop plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project
• Interacts with client and project team in developing scope of services and communicating project progress

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification required
• Attention to detail & critical thinking
• Excellent verbal & written communication
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
