The Mentoring Specialist works under the direction of the Mentoring Coordinator. The Mentoring Specialist will work with at-risk youth to match an identified or volunteer mentor to support their positive development and prevent risky behaviors. This position will develop relationships with youth, mentors, and referral sources (e.g., schools, Department of Children & Families), at times providing case management and/or advocacy for the youth. The Mentoring Specialist will monitor mentoring relationships to ensure the safety and well-being of youth and to support the retention of volunteer mentors.
The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or a closely related field; three years of related experience may be substituted. A minimum of 2 years of experience in positive youth development and/or prevention work is preferred. The successful candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills as well as strong computer skills.
This is a full time position located in Central Massachusetts and will include community-based travel and implementation. Bilingual/bicultural candidates are encouraged to apply.
