United Health Services is seeking an EMS Technician Paramedic to join our team in Johnson City, NY.

EMS Technician Paramedic Overview
Under general supervision, the “EMS Technician Paramedic” utilizes New York State Department of Health Basic and Advanced Life Support patient care protocols to provide high quality, safe and efficient emergency medical care to patients at assigned EMS coverage events.
EMS Technician Paramedic Key Responsibilities and Expectations
Safely provide attentive and high quality pre-hospital basic and advanced life support emergency medical care at the Paramedic Level at the Paramedic Level that is consistent with New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, statewide Basic Life Support and regional Advanced Life Support EMS protocols, policies, and procedures.
Appropriately document patient contacts on Hospital, State and/or Region approved pre-hospital care records or Part 18 report forms. Submits paperwork to UHS EMS/Medevac Operations program at the conclusion of each shift or event. Maintains the confidentiality of all paperwork.
Performs and documents inventory of patient care equipment and supplies at venue, and as assigned within certification level, at the beginning of each shift and following any emergency and in preparation for events and response. Contacts the Administrative Manager or Administrative Secretary with any re-supply needs.
Orients new EMS Technicians to each unique venue, and as assigned while helping to make new staff feel welcome and involved in providing Emergency Medical Services coverage at each particular event.
Displays professional, empathetic and respectful attitude towards patients, co-workers, the patient’s family members or significant others and the public by closely adhering to UHS dress code, house rules, patient bill of rights and established UHS standards of conduct and performance. Promotes the UHS corporate image through professional interaction with patients, colleagues and members of the community.
Must be capable of safely operating all patient care equipment and appropriately utilizing EMS supply items within the provider’s level of certification and credentialing.
Will be capable of safely operating the UHS all-terrain vehicle (Gator) after training and credentialing. Will operate the Gator in a manner that ensures staff and patient safety at all times. Will utilize the slowest and safest speeds possible while operating the Gator. Will wear a reflective safety vest while operating the Gator.
Demonstrates leadership and teaching skills. Orients and trains new staff as assigned. Functions in an Instructor capacity in EMS education programs and courses as assigned. May teach in ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, ITLS, PEEP, etc., courses if certified.
Understands and participates in quality assurance/improvement activities they may include monitoring practices/data that leads to implementation of “best practices” in teaching and clinical care.
Is flexible related to scheduling and covering “ill calls”
Performs any other related duties and tasks as may be assigned.

Position Qualifications
Education/Experience
Minimum Required:
High School diploma or equivalency.
Ability to remain calm and focused in highly stressful emergency situations.
Ability to lift a 200 lb person from ground into an ambulance with assistance from one other lifting individual.
Ability to legibly complete written work.
Ability to operate a computer and utilize related documentation programs.
License/Certification
Minimum Required:
Current certification by NYS-DOH as an EMT-Paramedic.
Is currently credentialed as an Adv. EMT-Paramedic within the EMS Region to practice as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic.
Possess a valid healthcare professional CPR certification (AHA, ARC, ASHI, etc.).
