Emission Technician Job at Western Midstream
Western Midstream is a master limited partnership formed to own, develop, acquire, and operate midstream assets. We are engaged in the business of gathering, compressing, treating, processing, and transporting natural gas; gathering, stabilizing, and transporting condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLs), and crude oil; and gathering, transporting, and disposing of produced water for our customers.
We operate or own equity interests in assets in the Rocky Mountains, North-central Pennsylvania, and Texas, including approximately 16,000 miles of petroleum and natural gas pipelines and over 100 gathering, treating, and processing facilities.
Job Summary:
This Emission Technician position is located in Western Midstream’s Delaware Basin asset in West Texas.
As an Emissions Technician, you will be responsible for helping maintain air and emissions regulatory compliance for WES’ West Texas assets. With the use of an OGI camera, you will perform Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) surveys and communicate findings with stakeholders. In accordance with EPA Method 9, quarterly opacity observations along with various other duties are required for this role.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following minimum qualifications:
- Two years of experience preferred
- Familiar with Word, Excel, Teams, SAP and Pronto Forms
- Good time management, communication, and people skills
- Experience in midstream oil & gas operations
Responsibilities:
- Operate a FLIR Camera (Forward Looking Infrared Camera) to locate natural gas leaks in compressor stations, processing plants and gas pipelines
- Make minor repairs to valves, fittings, pumps, etc.
- Enter inspection findings into database system
- Utilize SAP for work order management
- Complete periodic opacity observations utilizing EPA method 9 and EPA method 22
- Adhere to and enforce all applicable company, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations
- Sort and distribute emission date to the proper company personnel
- Assist the air emissions team in performing routine air emissions monitoring as required
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Certifications/Licenses
EPA Method 9 visible Emissions Evaluator
Optical Gas Imaging Certification
Valid US driver’s license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle is required.
Relocation
Successful candidate must have residency within a 75-mile radius of either Kermit, TX or Orla, TX.
This position is not eligible for domestic relocation.
Travel Requirements
The percentage of travel required for this position is 0 - 10%.
Work Schedule
This position is on a 5-40 schedule and may be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
