Position: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) | Newport Beach CA | South Coast Behavioral Health

The EMT Detox Technician staff is under the direct supervision of the Inpatient Operations Manager while providing adult supervision to those seeking drug and alcohol treatment; assists in the maintenance of a safe, secure environment that enhances treatment. The EMT Detox Technician operates in a transitional, residential environment.

• Full-Time | Days and Overnights | 7AM-7:30PM and 7PM-7:30AM | 3x12s

Job Duties:

• When on duty, EMT Detox Technician is responsible for medication passes and assessments such as CIWAS and COWS

• EMT Detox Technician is the Health and Safety Lead 2 during any crisis situation

• EMT Detox Technician is responsible for the communication to the Healthcare Team for healthcare-related questions and concerns from clients and staff alike

• Emergency Medical Technician Provides care to clients in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and the therapeutic environment

• The Emergency Medical Technician monitors and logs all rounds with clients - Q15 or Q30

• EMT Detox Technician assists clients with activities of daily living; attends to client behavioral issues and provides assistance in crisis intervention, as needed

• EMT Detox Technician works with a multidisciplinary team in leading milieu activities such as current events groups, community meetings, life skills, and/or recreational activities, as appropriate to the specified population

• Charts client observations, following policy and procedures requirements/mandates

• The EMT Detox Technician participates in the development and implementation of treatment programs

• Maintains confidentiality of client and all records

• The EMT Detox Technician transports clients to and from community appointments, clinics, labs, and/or treatments, as and when appropriate

• Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards

• Document and utilize Electronic Medical Records

• Attend all mandatory staff meetings, group sessions, and in-service education

• If the EMT Detox Technician meets the requirements to engage/provide counseling services and duties, the treatment technician will complete the required Intake Paperwork with the client

• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Attainment of at least 18 years of age

• A Criminal Background Clearance

• A Health Screening with TB test results

• EMT experience and license
  
• Drivers license and clean driving record

• High School Diploma or equivalency test is preferred

• Must be detail oriented with good oral and written communication skills

• 1-year experience working in residential treatment with knowledge of co-occurring disorders preferred

• At least 18 years of age

Required Licenses and Certifications:

• Valid California Driver’s License- 4 years clean record

• Current CPR certification

• Current First Aid certification

• Current valid EMT license

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Employees are required to talk or hear while on duty and are frequently required to stand and walk. Often, the employee is required to sit and use a computer and/or reach with hands and arms.
