         Performs a wide variety of electrical work by exercising skills and knowledge pertaining to the installation, alteration, maintenance, new construction, inspection and repair of electrical distribution systems (including primary and secondary wiring) and of clinical, laboratory and research electrical devices and equipment, emergency power generation systems and other common electrical items used in the University community.

Job Responsibilities
Troubleshooting and repair of various electrical systems up to 480 volts including: lighting systems, VFDs, motors, MCCs, breaker panels, HVAC equipment, controls, tracing and identifying circuits and other duties as assigned. This position is classified as essential personnel and as such, may be required to work nights and/or weekends on an on- call basis.

        Minimum Qualifications
       
 
       
        Journeyman electrician license from the State of Utah or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
        
Experience with electric manholes and underground power distribution systems, proficiency in the use of the various types of electrical test equipment and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
 
        
The journeyman license is obtained through the completion of a comprehensive examination after the completion of a 4 year, 8,000+ hour accredited apprenticeship program.
 
        
Dependent upon department of assignment, a valid Utah driver’s license may be required.
 
        
This position is not responsible for providing care to patients.
 
        
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
