Responsibilities:
NASA’s Sounding Rocket Operations Contract is a sub-orbital space flight program located at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility (WFF), a part of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). NSROC provides suborbital launch vehicles, payload development and field operations support to NASA’s Science Mission Directorate. The program enables the collection of Earth, Heliophysics and Astrophysics science. Peraton is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer, Power to support our NASA Sounding Rocket Operations Contract (NSROC) contract at the Wallops Flight Facility, Wallops Island, Virgina.

As an Associate Electrical Engineer, Power you will be responsible for the design, testing, and field operations support related to sounding rocket power distribution systems. Associate EE’s research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, and systems, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering.

Responsibilities:
  • Production and presentation of technical material in support of internal and external customer meetings.
  • Develop special purpose circuits to monitor vehicle or payload events, to establish compatible voltage or impedance levels, or to perform in-flight functions.
  • Utilize ground support equipment to test power system components.
  • Technical Knowledge of Battery Systems, including, but not limited to NiCad and Li-ion.
  • Understanding of Battery Charging systems and methods.
  • Manage the activities required to meet the objectives of assigned design and development projects.
  • Design, test, and support use of ordnance (class 1.3 and 1.4) activation systems.
Training will be required in:
  • Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
  • Quality Management System
  • Ordnance Handling
Travel:
  • Approximately 2 months/year travel is required.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, or other STEM field is required.
  • Zero to two years of experience with electrical components
  • Knowledge of test instrumentation including, but not limited to, Power Supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers, etc.
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed procedures.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering Preferred.
  • Internship experience in the analysis, design, and development of electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in operation of electrical test equipment, as well as components such as microcontrollers, PLD’s, and DSP’s.
  • Experience with Ground Data Systems is a plus.
  • Experience with Networked Data Acquisition Systems.
  • Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) familiarity.
  • Experience working with Class 1.3 and 1.4 Ordnance.
  • Experience electrically troubleshooting Power and Capacitive Discharge systems
