TRANSFORMING MOTION WITH SUSTAINABLE, ELECTROSTATIC MOTORS.

C-Motive is a startup in Middleton, WI creating an electric motor with sustainability and efficiency as top priorities. This technology was born out of UW-Madison and will be the first of its kind on the market.

Half of all electricity globally is consumed by electric motors. C-Motive’s patented electrostatic motor technology delivers 95%+ efficiency, uses no rare-earth metals, less than 1% the copper, and has the potential to deliver over a gigaton of carbon C-Motive’s Electrostatic Motor savings in the next decade.

This role is cross-functional, working closely with technical leadership across technology development, testing and operations teams-PCB soldering, rework experience with technical leadership across technology.

It is expected that this role works well within a team and is self-motivated. Prior start up company experience is a plus but not required. We looking for someone that enjoys tackling day-to-day challenges, enjoys hands-on work, is highly organized, and takes pride in delivering results.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Develop custom electronic subassemblies of prototype power converters for electrostatic drives, including PCBs for AC-DC, DC-DC, and DC-AC converters, and employing analog, digital, power electronics circuitry.
• Develop custom test fixtures and equipment for supporting the development of electrostatic motors, drives, their components and subassemblies, and general building of custom lab infrastructure.
• Act as the technical point of contact for electrical vendors, e.g. PCBA manufacturers.
• Perform testing of subassemblies, components and final assemblies. Perform and assist with assembly efforts of motors and drives as needed.
• Assist with designing electrical subassemblies for test and their test protocols.
• Flex and adapt in a small-team startup environment where needs, roles and priorities change frequently.

QUALIFICATIONS

• The desire, ambition and follow-through to drive change in the world.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout software.
• Experience creating designs and tools that interface software, electrical, and mechanical parts.
• Experience using standard electrical laboratory equipment, e.g. oscilloscopes, impedance analyzers, etc.
• Printed circuit board soldering and rework experience.

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with electrical rotating machinery, i.e. motors, generators and dynamometers a plus.
• Computer programming experience, e.g. Python, C/C++, Javascript.
• Experience working with high voltage electrical equipment and an understanding of electrical shock hazards.
