This is a full-time 40 hour a week position. $15,000 sign-on Bonus!

THE POSITION:

The Technician Supervisor works in collaboration with the veterinary staff, the management team, the specialty services and the emergency and critical care service to provide Angell clientele with high quality clinical and customer services. The technician supervisor is expected manage their time between administrative and technical duties in order to provide high quality support to the technical staff.

Some of the duties include:

• Provides oversight and direction to staff members. Maintains high visibility and availability; able to redirect workflow to keep department functioning efficiently. Demonstrate fairness and consistency when performing supervisory responsibilities.
• Monitors service daily in conjunction with lead technicians to maximize efficiency of Clinical services and redirects assistance to other areas as needed.
• Demonstrate and model a high level of customer service: respond to client questions, complaints and compliments with a non-judgmental and compassionate attitude. Ensure that staff is respectful of clients and their pets.
• Develops and maintains technical support staff schedule. Processes requests for time off and plans appropriate coverage in conjunction with the veterinary staff.
• Performs yearly performance evaluations with input from clinicians and lead technician and makes recommendations for continued development and wage adjustments for all technical support staff
• Ensure that all point of care test results are properly recorded and sent to the lab to be entered into Angell Lab. Participate in reviewing and making changes to point of care testing equipment, supplies and pricing. Arrange training when new points of care tests are added.
• Assists in development, implementation and maintenance of service policies and procedures assuring that sufficient resources and effective protocols are in place to support the smooth operational flow of the clients and patients.

WHO WE ARE:

MSPCA-Angell West, a non-profit 24-hour emergency and referral satellite hospital in the west suburbs of Boston, was opened in early 2014 by Angell Animal Medical Center. The hospital is over 20,000 square feet, has been newly renovated, and is located 10 miles west of Boston in Waltham.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

We are looking for applicants with at least three years of experience working as a veterinary technician/assistant. Applicants must have at least two years of Emergency/Critical Care Experience and one year of supervisory experience. As this position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, we require applicants to include a cover letter showcasing your writing skills.
