Job Description:

Spiritual Guidance

● Display Christ‐centeredness in daily work with students, parents, staff, and all who participate in

the school’s community.

● Exhibit God’s love in approach to teaching and dealing with staff, students, and families.

Instructional Duties

● Assist the teacher with the preparation of projects, lessons, developmentally appropriate

activities, snack and lunchtimes, and facilitating indoor and outdoor play.

● Work with individual and small groups of young children.

● Supervise/monitor the students at all times and maintain classroom flow by directing children to

where they need to be.

● Spot potential conflicts or potential safety hazards before trouble occurs.

● Assist the teacher with keeping accurate records, including attendance and distributing take-

home materials.

● Assist the teacher with maintaining family partnerships and encouraging family participation

within the classroom.

● Assume the role of leadership in the absence of the teacher, if needed.

● Assist with special projects and activities such as Christmas programs, parent programs, etc.

● Provide comfort to children when feeling lonely, or having their feelings hurt by others along

with being sensitive to student’s needs and feelings.

● Prepare and clean up snack twice a day

● Monitor lunchroom during student lunch time

Administrative Duties

● Maintain a clean, safe, and stimulating developmentally appropriate environment.

● Ensure that there is a caring and safe learning environment for the students.

● Ensure that school grounds, classrooms, and office areas are clean, attractive, and inviting.

● Monitor the safety of students and facilities.

● Follow MN DHS Rule 3 guidance.

● Performs other duties as assigned.

● Create and maintain a developmentally appropriate after-school care program with preparation

of projects, lessons, developmentally appropriate activities, snack and lunchtimes, and

facilitating indoor and outdoor play.

Qualifications:

A teacher must be at least 18 years old and meet the qualifications in subpart 2 with the following

exceptions:

A. A registered nurse or licensed practical nurse is qualified as an assistant teacher for infants

only.

B. A registered nurse may be used to meet the staff-to-child ratios for an assistant teacher for

sick care in a center licensed to operate a sick care program.

Hours + Pay:

Position could potentially be split up between two different individuals, but we are seeking to fill the

position with one person.

Hours:

● Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 12:00pm - 6:00pm (hours after 3pm depend on after school

care needs)

● Other hours may be added as needed (Tuesday, Thursday from 7:30am - 11:00am)

● Continuing education hours, trainings, open houses, and evening family events will be

compensated as scheduled.

Pay:

● $14 - $15 per hour depending on experience and qualifications

● St. John’s Lutheran Church and School follows the compensation guidelines for the Lutheran

Church Missouri Synod and currently meets 90% of those guidelines.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 4 hour shift

• Norwood Young America, MN: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
