King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and a free Orca card for transportation use.
This job includes an option for hybrid in-office/telework, with some days needing in-office work or travel.
Some of what you'll do
- Provide consultation and technical assistance to customers, counselors, medical experts, employers, and others regarding accommodations, job modifications, and assistive technology services
- Consult with DVR staff and customers regarding the interpretation of medical records or evaluations
- Develop treatment plans as part of an Individualized Plan for Employment; consult on available providers and the anticipated costs related to purchasing of medical/assistive technology services
- Assess or participate in assessments to determine a customer's capabilities and environmental demands in order to prescribe appropriate assistive technology interventions for a customer to achieve an identified vocational goal
- Prepare written assessment reports with recommendations on technology intervention including product sources, training/maintenance, follow-up, and estimated costs
- Plan and/or coordinate referrals for assistive technology-related services to other team members or outside assistive technology providers
- Plan and/or coordinate implementation and training on assistive technology equipment
- Provide awareness training and technical education to customers, DVR staff, community partners, and others regarding the potential of accommodation strategies and assistive technology to reduce or eliminate barriers to employment
- Establish and maintain working relationships with providers and product representatives to enhance available resources for assistive technology assessment and/or product demonstration
Who should apply?
Professionals with a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling or rehabilitation science and 2 years of full-time experience providing direct customer-related assistive technology services.
Desired
- Ability to assess Assistive Technology (AT) needs and direct the implementation of the required AT services
- Ability to train and conduct presentations
- Skill in applying technical knowledge of medical and psychological aspects of disabling conditions, transferable skills analysis, assistive technology, and job modifications
- Knowledge of federal and state AT policies and the provisions of laws, and the ability to explain these laws to others
