POSITION SUMMARY:
The University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is accepting applications for the position of DPT Program Director for the School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences (SPTRS) within the Morsani College of Medicine.
This is a 12-month, full-time (1.0 FTE) tenured or non-tenured faculty position, at the Associate/Professor level.. This newly created position will report directly to the Director of SPTRS/Associate Dean of the Morsani College of Medicine. This is an exciting opportunity for an education leader to work with a strong mentor, to lead our DPT program into the future, and prepare students that are ready to transform health by enhancing physical and social well-being. The candidate should have outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills and work well with a team. The position will include administration with other assignments (e.g., teaching, research/scholarship, and service) dependent upon the candidate’s qualifications and the program’s needs. Faculty rank and salary are highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead an established DPT program that is ranked in the top 50 programs in the U.S. (US News and World Reports). The DPT Program Director is a new position, as the SPTRS continues to grow its educational, research, and clinical missions. The DPT Program Director is a member of the faculty who holds an administrative appointment related to the management and day-to-day operations of the DPT program, including program and curriculum development and classroom instruction. Our CAPTE accredited program has recently implemented a curriculum revision and maintains excellent program outcomes. We also benefit from being part of a multi-disciplinary inter-professional team across the care continuum provided by USF Health and the Morsani College of Medicine.

The position will provide leadership resulting in high educational achievement, NPTE outcomes, as well as collaboration and teamwork amongst physical therapy program faculty. They will join a strong leadership team that includes the School’s Assistant Directors for Athletic Training Professional Program; Clinical Operations; Curriculum and Assessment; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Finance and Operations; Professional Development; and Research.
Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight of the DPT program including curriculum, program assessment, and accreditation
- DPT program faculty leadership, development, and/or mentoring in innovative teaching approaches
- Pursuit of research/scholarship
- Administrative responsibilities within the SPTRS (e.g., management and day-to-day operations of the DPT program)
- Teach in the DPT program
Minimum qualifications:
- Must be a physical therapist who holds a current license to practice as a PT in any United States jurisdiction and is eligible for licensure in Florida
- PhD or equivalent
- Minimum of six (6) years of full-time higher education experience, and a minimum of three (3) years of fulltime experience in a physical therapist education program
- APTA membership
- Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Associate Professor or Professor
- For appointment as Associate Professor: minimum 5 years full-time appointed academic experience at Assistant Professor rank
- For appointment as Professor: minimum 5 years full-time appointed academic experience at Associate Professor rank
- Understanding of CAPTE accreditation standards and requirements
- Desire to teach in area of expertise
Preferred qualifications:
- Academic administrative experience
- Experience measuring program outcomes
- Experience with recruitment, supervision, and evaluation of faculty
- History of University and/or Association Service
- Strong record of scholarly/research productivity and dissemination with history of scholarship of teaching and learning
- Documented experience and accomplishments in inter-professional research and academic endeavors
