Job Description:
The Distribution Center Manager holds a key role in order execution, inventory management, and logistics. They are responsible for the following tasks and responsibilities:
THE DAY TO DAY…
- Provide leadership and direction to a team of distribution center associates including determining job assignments, defining expectations, coaching, managing performance, and supporting individual development.
- Champion workplace safety practices and employee engagement in safety.
- Determines capacity and workflow within the distribution center assigning the appropriate staffing, equipment, space, and shipment schedules to complete shipments on time, accurate, and free of damage.
- Establish operational procedures and standard work for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of product, and keeping of warehouse inventory.
- Ensure the execution of appropriate inventory management practices for safe, damage free, and accurate keeping of AriensCo inventory assets.
- Set and manages annual expense budget for distribution center operations and facilities.
- Develop and implements programs to improve the productivity and quality within distribution center operations. Review costs, quality, and inventory management programs to ensure cost effective operations at or below budgeted expense levels.
- Demonstrate collaborative problem-solving behaviors and lead the resolution of issues and discrepancies with internal and external stakeholders.
- Partner with 3rd party logistics and transportation partners on truck schedules, capacity, and equipment needs to achieve daily shipping plans safely and efficiently.
- Champion the AriensCo Lean culture; encouraging employee engagement in continuous improvement.
- Direct reclamation of damaged product as well as coordination of re-work of product. Act as a local resource supporting or providing resources for tier 1 quality checks based on visual inspections, verifications, measurements, etc.
- Assist in the development of long-term plans for the distribution center. This includes such things as expansion, layout, capital improvements, major maintenance expenditures, stocking levels, distribution locations, third party shipping, etc...
THE QUALIFICATIONS…
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or equivalent related experience in operations or logistics.
- Distribution Center Manager should possess technical skills in logistics, transportation, distribution, inventory and project management.
- Additional skills would include:
