Job Description

The Security Director is a member of Corporate Security, reporting to the Global Director, Protective Services. The director’s duties include but are not limited to, behavioral threat management, facility threat risk assessments, security intelligence, employee and executive protection, travel security, event and venue security, and the support of investigations.

Key Accountabilities

Individual Accountabilities:

• Working with a team to support a 24/7 global security operation and may be called upon to support and to respond to emergency situations and/or as required by circumstances, outside of normal office hours.

• Conducts physical security threat, risk and vulnerability assessments of persons, assets, premises, business interests, locations, residents, and events.

• Proactively identifies risks to mitigate fraud and physical security losses by escalating to the appropriate authority, engaging key partners, and facilitating the resolution and closure of these matters.

• Provides and/or leads third party providers to provide protection of personnel as required.

• Uses various applications to monitor the travel, facility, and geopolitical threat landscape.

• Works with police, government agencies at all levels and industry partners in collaboration with Manulife’s Investigative Services team.

• Responds to loss events that fall under the Global Investigative & Forensic Services and Corporate Security mandates.

Job Requirement:

• At least 10 years directly relevant corporate, government or military experience.

• At least 5 years experience in a corporate security management role.

• A university degree in a security discipline, business, control, or related field.

• ASIS International Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation, or similar qualification is a plus.

Proficiencies:

• Well developed knowledge of corporate security principles and practices.

• Experience in conducting investigative interviews.

• Familiar with local criminal law and the handling of evidence.

• Ability to prioritize, coordinate, and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Solid written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong ethical compass.
