Director, Office of Disability & Testing Services Job at Cleveland State University
The Director is the senior leader within the Office of Disability and Testing Services, providing direction and oversight that advances the University’s equal opportunity and accessibility compliance efforts while ensuring that students who disclose disabilities are afforded all of the legal rights and protections as mandated in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as amended, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. This position will be responsible for monitoring University compliance with all laws and regulations relating to people with disabilities and promoting access, diversity, and inclusion. Plans, implements and directs programs, policies and services for students with disabilities/access barriers. The Director will also collaborate closely with the offices within the Campus Engagement, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion division, General Counsel, Human Resources, Facilities and Construction, IS&T, E-Learning, Center for Instructional Technology and Distance Learning, University Marketing, as well as other University offices to ensure equal access for students, faculty, visitors, and staff with disabilities. The director is expected to serve as the subject matter expert for providing equal access for students with disabilities in didactic, field, and clinical environments.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy, Education, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, Student Affairs/Student Development, Law, Public Administration or closely related field required. Eight years of progressive experience in accessibility and disability services. Demonstrated experience with Americans with Disabilities Act, Title II and Section 501, 503, 504, and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 etc. Demonstrated experience with determining reasonable accommodations in clinical, field, internship, and practicum and other non-didactic environments. PC proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience leading and managing staff. Adept in disability laws and practices in post-secondary education.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in application of WCAG and Digital Accessibility best practice(s). Demonstrated experience in crisis resolution and intervention. 8 years of experience with Americans with Disabilities Act, Title II and Section 501, 503, 504, and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 etc.
