FACILITIES: Bayfront Convention Center/ Erie Insurance Arena/ Warner Theatre/ UPMC Park
SALARY RANGE: $60,000 - $80,000 / Benefit Package Negotiable

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Safety & Security is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for employees, clients, and patrons in all Erie Events facilities. He / She will develop, implement, and enforce event security policies and programs related to all event and nonevent activity. He/ She will directly oversee Erie Events Armed and Peer Security personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8-10 years of related work experience in security, event security management or public service experience.
  • 4-6 years event planning and/or event execution in a sports/live entertainment facility preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or related field preferred but not required with appropriate experience.
  • Must have and maintain PA State Firearm Certification.
  • He/she must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • He/she must be able to walk, climb, lift fifty pounds and have manual dexterity and motor coordination.
  • He/she must pass a security/reference check.

Job Description Detail:

  • Must work effectively with all Erie Events staff and show/artist/team representatives to ensure patrons, artists, promoters, venue personnel, and all who use or visit Erie Events facilities, parking areas and surrounding spaces are safe, secure and receive the highest quality service.
  • This position acts as the Erie Events liaison to the Erie Police Department and other security and public safety agencies.
  • Collaborates with building managers to coordinate a walking tour of buildings and grounds annually with law enforcement agencies and first responders that are primarily responsible for protecting and securing Erie Events venues.
  • Provides and presents annual reports on current safety and security practices. Assesses vulnerabilities and identifies strategies to improve Erie Events venues safety and security.
  • Helps develop, and directs the implementation of; objectives, policies, procedures and work standards.
  • Review, update, and provide training for the Erie Events emergency operations plans.
  • Works with Human Resources to issue, and manage FOBS, ID badges, and keys to employees, tenants, vendors, and potentially clients.
  • Directs the selection, supervision, scheduling and work evaluation of department personnel: participates with Human Resources in various personnel matters, including investigating complaints, internal investigations when appropriate and provides corrective action as appropriate.
  • Manage the quality, accuracy and completion of all department incident reports generated from events held within Erie Events facility.
  • Assist Erie Events management with implementation of all emergency and evacuation protocols.
  • Develops, creates and conducts on-going training for security personnel in conjunction with Erie Events management. Identifies ongoing educational needs and assists in staff development programs.
  • Determine the threat level of any issue/incident and decide immediate plan of action and direct security team appropriately.
  • Ensure all uniformed security meet legal requirements for necessary training.
  • Must stay up to date and educated with any developments in the security industry, especially related to mass gatherings.
  • Attend security meetings prior to shows/concerts to ensure compliance with touring show expectations. Brief staff with variations to established protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure security personnel are following Erie Events policies, procedures and performing essential job functions.
  • Must maintains confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and motivate others in engagement and performance.
