Carrier Enterprise (“CE”), one of the leading heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment and supplies distributors in North America, is seeking a Director of Planning & Purchasing. This person's primary responsibility is to develop and execute the company's strategy and processes to optimize our inventory investment and product availability.

We are a multi-billion dollar organization with tens of thousands of SKU's and more than 100 stocking locations selling through multiple channels with a rapidly growing e-commerce presence. This is a great opportunity for an experienced supply chain leader with deep inventory management expertise to help take our already successful company to the next level.

Responsibilities

Provides leadership, guidance and support to field based planning teams to develop their understanding of supply chain best practices to ensure operational and financial goals are met.

Motivates and inspires others to improve by sharing new methodologies, training on new processes, establishing metrics, and coaching the performance of field based inventory planning teams.

Partners with our region leadership to improve inventory performance by establishing and leading a Sales and Operations process.

Establishes dashboards and scorecards using our state of the art business intelligence system, where business leaders are able to quickly make decisions about their business.

Controls, measures, and regulates efficient inventory levels of products across a network of distribution centers and stores.

Identifies sourcing, service, and product standardization improvement opportunities.

Stays abreast of technology trends and ensures our current systems for forecasting, planning and purchasing activities are being utilized to their fullest potential.

Works with the businesses to effectively manage and minimize excess, slow and damaged products.

Collaborates with suppliers using data and information sharing to optimize the supply chain.

Applies process improvement methodologies such as lean or six sigma principles to current and future processes.

Requirements and Experience

A deep understanding and considerable expertise in inventory management including forecasting, purchasing, inventory control, product deployment strategy, and distribution network models.

Experience with multi-tier distribution and a hub and spoke operations model with direct ship DC's and daily store replenishments.

Technology minded leader with an eye towards using systems and technology to change how we do business.

Experience with cost and inventory reduction programs and group purchasing contract implementation and management.

Forecasting and PO management systems experience is essential.

At least ten (10) years of progressive materials management experience including at least five (5) years of related leadership experience for a distributor or manufacturer with 10,000 or more SKUs.

Demonstrated leadership abilities.

Ability to work across a large field based organization.

Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.

Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and Access.

Education

A bachelor's degree in business, finance, supply chain, operations management or a related field is required (considerable related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered).

A master's degree in business, supply chain, operations management or a related field is preferred.
