Position Summary:
The Director Innovation position is responsible for bringing the Yankee Candle brand vision to life in stores and online. Develop a robust strategic vision for the future built on merchandising and design principles with a clear brand architecture and aesthetic. Ensuring stores and online have a compelling environment that reflects the brand identity while stimulating consumer demand. Collaborates with Brand, Creative, Consumer Insights, Category management, Planning & Allocations, and Operations to leverage seasonal floor sets, promotions, events, product demonstration, and loyalty database to deliver the Owned Channels sales and margin budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for keeping pace with the consumer driven and digitally driven retail environment by using consumer insights and consumer journey to influence the product assortment and overall experience.
  • Build a multi-year strategic plan to guide the growth of both in-store and online sales.
  • Partners with the Brand and Creative teams to develop seasonal and promotional messaging that aligns to overall brand goals, while driving increased traffic/sessions and sales revenue.
  • Tests, evaluates, and scales new store design, HP design, and merchandising concepts that are designed to communicate the brand vision and drive traffic/sessions growth.
  • Collaborates with the Category Management, Planning & Allocation teams to successfully deliver appropriate product assortments and identifies new opportunities, such as merchandising programs to drive revenue/margin growth.
  • Collaborates with Operations to ensure alignment and successful execution of all goals/initiatives.
  • Responsible for segmentation testing and initiatives. Develops appropriate metrics and ‘points of view’, working with the Brand, Planning, Visual and Operations teams.
  • Monitors Retail sales, reacts to trends and creates action plans to maximize revenue and margin.
  • Drive company culture through consumer-first mind-set, fostering cross-functional team collaboration, and supporting the continuous evolution of the business.

Required Experience/Qualifications:
  • A four-year college degree or Equivalent Experience (Retail Management, Marketing, Digital Marketing, Business or related field)
  • 7+ years of demonstrated success in DTC merchandising or category management.
  • Strong Retail merchant experience in a consumer products, personal products, or personal fragrance environment is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to drive positive change and work collaboratively, generating positive relationships.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, and solid planning and organizational skills.
  • Superb communication skills, including strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong project management skills with proven ability to drive programs in complex organization.
  • Creative thinking with talent for developing novel solutions to meet business needs.
