The Director of Digital Content Strategy oversees all aspects of digital and social media content and strategy across Raiders-owned and operated digital and social platforms, in both English and Spanish. This role will lead teams that are responsible for supervising and maintaining the overall editorial integrity and day-to-day content management across those platforms.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator, forming close collaborations among the department’s various writers, videographers, photographers, producers, and editorial staff – as well as all other departments.

This candidate will partner closely with Revenue Planning & Analytics to understand trends in the evolving behaviors around content consumption within our existing audiences and critical target demographics.

Experience leading others is a must, in addition to solid writing/editing skills and story development from ideation to execution.


Essential Job Functions

  • Manage a team of reporters, social media specialists, and content coordinators to provide a best-in-class level of news, entertainment, and fan engagement through editorial leadership and brand integrity.
  • Administrate short- and long-term strategy for the Raiders’ overarching digital and social presences.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for content (written, photography, video) across the Raiders’ social and digital media platforms.
  • Effectively scale Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and other social media marketing platforms to build traffic and increase engagement.
  • Ensure the voice, tone, and mix of content is aligned with the vision, core values, and key internal messaging of the organization, providing a consistent and compelling user experience across the Raiders’ digital enterprise.
  • Develop creative sponsor integration elements for program initiatives with our internal Sales team.
  • Create and implement an editorial plan that underpins the Raiders’ brand development strategy while promoting audience growth in key demographics and fan engagement through internal and league-wide KPI tracking.
  • Ensure a healthy and successful partnership with the Raiders’ Public Relations team to maintain a good working relationship with players, coaches, and staff.
  • Oversee social properties to manage the Raiders’ online reputation and moderate conversation of internal and external constituents about the Raiders’ content and brand, where appropriate.
  • Moderate the tracking and analyzing of metrics and data from a variety of tools — Omniture, CrowdTangle, FB Business Insights, etc. — to monitor the performance and assess the effectiveness of the Raiders’ online communications.
  • Establish and deliver audience KPI targets for the Raiders’ digital media platforms.
  • Maintain a clear and consistent best-in-class visual aesthetic for the Raiders’ brand between both social and digital elements and platforms.
  • Manage multiple workstreams and/or projects from concept to completion by anticipating challenges, setting up proper measurement frameworks and reporting, troubleshooting problems, proposing solutions, overseeing quality, and ensuring deadline and budget adherence.


Qualifications

  • Must have 5 years of experience managing teams of 3 or more employees.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of combined media experience with a focus on leadership and editorial programming.
  • Deep familiarity with cultural trends, tensions, and authentic opportunities to tie those to the matter at hand.
  • Well-versed in content-forward marketing strategies.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of football with the ability to work in a fast-paced ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks during a typical workday. In sports, this may translate to non-traditional hours.[GR1]
  • Strong grammar knowledge, including AP Style.


Physical Aspects of Position (includes but are not limited to):

  • Sitting for long periods of time throughout shift
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional walking, standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
