The Director, Exec Ministry Protective Svcs position exists to oversee all security functions for Focus on the Family employees, volunteers, visitors, vendors, facilities, and provides executive protection services for the President, and others as assigned.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Represents the ministry as a public relations specialist, as related to outsiders and insiders in the carrying out of his/her Security related duties

Develops and oversees the implementation of physical security guidelines and training to all FOF Guest Relations staff

Provides an armed physical security presence and emergency response to all Focus facilities; remains on-call 24 hours and is the primary contact on the emergency call list

Provides executive and VIP protection both locally and while traveling, both inside the Continental United States and internationally, as directed

Contract management and daily coordination with staff members of the designated after-hours Contract Security company

Conducts detailed planning, coordination and liaison for all VIP and Special Events on the Focus on the Family Campus

Provides crowd control for special events as needed

Coordinates and/or provides regular training of security staff and other selected Focus staff members in physical security techniques, protective measures and applicable law enforcement practices, including acting as the primary law enforcement liaison

Conducts periodic security inspections throughout the buildings and grounds, identifies security deficiencies and oversees corrective actions

Conducts annual physical security assessments of all Focus on the Family owned buildings (Colorado Springs, CO campus)

Controls expenditures in security area; prepares and manages annual budget

Controls and maintains Focus vehicles assigned to the Security Department

Makes recommendations for improvements to technical systems or staffing levels

Conducts annual training and performance reviews

Oversight, implementation and daily management of the mobile Focus Safety App

Interacts with the network security team to insure we are implementing adequate security measures

Maintains working knowledge of the electronic security and badging systems

Interacts closely with executive staff to plan and conduct protective actions related to the President, the Board and other executive staff, including specialized training

Develops and maintains systems for gathering and reviewing information which may be of interest to the ministry, particularly that which may have an impact on security

Motivates, trains and mentors the security and safety staff

Develops recommendations for policies related to security and implements policies when approved

Develops, implements and maintains the Focus on the Family Emergency Action Plan and Crisis Plan, including all procedures, training, and testing of systems to permit excellent communication in routine and emergency situations; maintains the emergency contact list

Monitors, studies, and reports on any threat to the President, the campus, employees, and visitors

Participates in the disaster recovery planning team and incident management team, including the critical incident team

Develops and maintains the Emergency Action Plan, including plans and/or procedures for use in emergencies

Conducts training of supervisors and staff in conjunction with human resources training, and the disaster recovery planning team

Implements rules of force for security members and determines when to escalate in conjunction with the President and the Board

Establishes policies and procedures for weapons and ammo handling, storage and hazardous training

Must possess or be qualified for concealed carry weapon permit

Proficiency in use of handguns as well as rifles

Competent in disarm and unarmed safety techniques

Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as assigned

Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job:
Manages a staff of 4-7 employees

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:
Must be able to pass a Post Offer Prehire Physical exam

Must be able to pass a full physical exam and/or drug test – annually or as requested

Extensive travel as required by the President

This role may require occasional travel including nights and weekends

May be exposed to situations requiring physical intervention; required to wear a bulletproof vest

Must be able to lift 70 pounds to chest height

Must be able to drag 200 pounds fifty feet (horizontally) within twenty seconds

Must be able to subdue irate/irrational people without injury to self/others

Must be able to wear ballistic vest for full workday

Must be able to work outside during inclement weather

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time

Must be able to sprint fifty yards in ten seconds or less

Must be able to operate motor vehicles safely, possessing a valid Colorado driver’s license

Must be able to complete basic and advanced evasive driver training

Knowledge/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, security, law or related field of study, Master’s degree preferred

7-10 years of experience in similar environment. Should include physical security, corporate investigations, criminal investigations, loss prevention, executive protection, specialized driver training, public relations, legal issues, pre-employment screening and workplace violence

Professional Certification preferred in one or more of the following:

Certified Protection Professional (CPP)-strongly desired

Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)

Personal Protection Specialists (PPS)

Certification in use of firearms and experience in real-life situations

Licensed Private Investigator is desired. Prefer Colorado certification

Memberships in Professional Organizations preferred in one or more of the following:

American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS)

Association of Federal Investigators

National Computer Security Association

Association of Certified Fraud Examiners

International Association of Criminal Justice

Satisfy Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) minimum standards or has a P.O.S.T.

Proven experience in both police work and "campus" security involving multiple buildings and facilities

Proven training experience in security and law enforcement of security, state and local law enforcement and non-security personnel

Proven experience in executive protection planning and execution in both campus atmosphere and public arenas

Maintains CPR & AED certification

Working knowledge of FOF mission, philosophy, values and objectives

Salary Range: $89,436 to $102,957/yr.
