Homeward Bound is a non-profit organization that provides home and community based services to people with intellectual and physical disabilities in a residential group home setting. We have 20 locations in Hennepin County. We follow a person-centered, active support approach to ensure that the individuals with disabilities we serve have a hand in directing their services and a voice concerning their future. We place no limits on what a person is capable of accomplishing. PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
This person is responsible for assuring and providing high quality support /services to individuals which facilitates the development of self-reliant skills, behaviors, and community involvement. This person is also responsible for training at multiple HBI locations as assigned and assisting with training and coaching new and current employees at various locations.
This position will support our clients in one of 6 different networks of homes listed below
- Minnetonka, Maple Grove, Brooklyn Park, Golden Valley (4 different homes)
- Plymouth, Crystal, St. Louis Park (4 different homes)
- Hopkins, Golden Valley, Crystal, Plymouth (4 different homes)
- Crystal, Robbinsdale, New Hope (4 different homes)
- Brooklyn Park (This is a 12 bed location broken into 2 different homes)
Schedule: Up to 32 hours per weekend. Minimum of 16 hours per weekend.
- 7am to 11pm
- 7am to 3pm OR 3pm to 11pm (If not available for double shifts)
What you will give in this role:
- Assist people in physically navigating and ensuring accessibility so they can move about and be part of their community as a productive citizen.
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living including appointments, events, hobbies, meals, and total personal cares.
- Provide training and mentorship to less experienced direct care staff.
- Help people grow and develop their skills, make choices, and become interconnected with the community.
- Help people discover their passions and live their best life.
- Provide an uplifting, positive and comfortable home environment for people with disabilities.

Minimum Requirements:
- Homeward Bound employees are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have an approved religious or medical exemption prior to orientation.
- Two years of experience providing care to people with developmental disabilities in a residential setting.
- Hold a valid MN driver’s license, have reliable transportation, and qualify to drive for the company.
- Pass a MN Department of Human Services background study.
- Effectively communicate in the English language, speaking, writing and reading.
- Ability to lift and transfer up to 60 lbs.
