Ideal candidates should have automotive experience in each of the following:
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) planning and creation, based on ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard or newer.
- Datum selection and coordination.
- Slip plane strategies.
- Design gap recommendations.
- Measurement point definition and/or creation.
- Providing input to the product design and/or manufacturing teams on dimensional issues and concerns.
- Bodyshop launch experience with Closures (Hood, Door, Fenders, Tailgates).
- 1D (RSS) or 3D tolerance stack/analysis experience.
- Ability to interface directly with supply base and assembly plant during part/checking fixture/assembly tool buy-offs.
- Supporting gage concept design reviews, kick off, follow-up, GR / GR&R studies.
- Supporting/overseeing tool repeatability (TR) studies on assembly equipment.
- Supporting assembly builds to achieve dimensional accuracy to meet customer requirements.
- Supporting SPC, APQP, Control Plan, and PPAP activities as required.
- Engineering Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of technical education (A.A.S.) and relevant experience (10yrs+).
- ASME GD&T Certification a plus.
- Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Certification a plus.
- Previous OEM launch experience
- Proficient with Catia V5 and Teamcenter
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient with reviewing analyzing and summarizing data for issue resolution.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of hemming & assembly processes in an automotive assembly plant environment.
- Understanding of gage design, development, and measurement principles.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong oral, written and communication skills.
- Strong sense of urgency.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong quality mindset.
- Strong presentation skills.
Travel
- Travel required within MI and OH (60%).
