Position Summary
The mission of The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington is to spread the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. In pursuit of this mission, the archdiocese is seeking a Digital Media and Photography Manager for its Catholic Standard and El Pregonero newspapers and websites. The Digital Media and Photography Manager manages the digital media platforms for the Catholic Standard and El Pregonero, manages and produces photography for both publications, manages and produces social media content, manages their photo archives and helps manage their websites.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Manage digital media accounts including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and write social media posts for the Catholic Standard and El Pregonero publications of the Archdiocese of Washington’s Carroll Media.
· Develop and implement overall social media strategy and campaigns for the Catholic Standard and El Pregonero, coordinating with the archdiocese’s communications team.
· Produce original multimedia content for use on social media.
· Manage and produce photographs for the Catholic Standard and El Pregonero and assist with archdiocesan communications initiatives, acquiring photos from freelance photographers or other sources as needed.
· Hire and manage freelance photographers to cover events as needed.
· Select, edit and archive all new digital imagery.
· Manage and maintain archdiocesan digital image archive, input new assets into the archive and update and tag images using key wording system.
· Maintain Carroll Media websites, ensure sites are displaying and functioning properly daily, plan and produce photo galleries for the sites and assist with production of email newsletters. Serve as liaison with website management company (Glass Canvas).
· Update content on sites and accounts related to Carroll Media websites.
· Manage, inventory, repair photography equipment, maintain, and service Carroll Media owned photography equipment while staying abreast of photography technology.
· Serve as department liaison to respond to and fulfill image requests.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
· Practicing Catholic who supports the teachings of the Catholic Church
· Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Visual or Fine Arts or related field
· Knowledge and skill with social and digital media, current trends
· 3-5 years’ experience in digital media, photography and editing preferred
· Knowledge and experience in digital asset management preferred
· Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Canto
· Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
