The
Registered Dietician I will work
Per Diem, Days and counsels patients and family members on nutrition needs during hospital stay and for use at home.
- The Registered Dietician documents all aspects of the nutrition education for patient in accordance with department's nutrition practice guidelines and professional standards as observed by CNM.
- The Registered Dietician delivers counseling services tactfully and with concern for patients well being as indicated by supervisory observation, feedback from family members, and comments written on patient survey.
- The Registered Dieticina coordinates area of responsibility to maintain appropriate and timely nutrition care to all patients.
- The Registered Dietician completes nutrition assessments within 24-48 hours of receiving the printed nutrition consult or verbal request as verified by CNM analysis of monthly consults completed. Patients are assessed and reassessed according to Clinical Nutrition Practice Guidelines. Evaluation will be conducted by CNM with random observation and quarterly chart reviews.
- The Registered Dietician participates in clinical quality assessment and improvement for Clinical Nutrition Section. Submits all required documentation, reports, and logs in a timely fashion (3-5 days after month end), and in a professional and complete manner to CNM on a monthly basis.
- Serves as a nutrition educator for students, medical staff, health professionals, and/or general public.
- Serves as a preceptor to SUCO dietetic students during their Clinical Nutrition rotation as part of their on-line dietetic internship. This includes working with/training the interns and completing evaluations on the students as submitted to the CNM.
Bassett Healthcare Network follows the New York State and New York State Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine mandates for healthcare workers. This mandate requires COVID-19 vaccinations for personnel working for or on behalf of our hospitals and nursing homes. The New York State mandate allows for medical exemptions and religious accommodations, when appropriate. All candidates who accept an offer from Bassett Healthcare Network will be required to show proof of vaccination as required by New York State.
Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or related field of study.
Experience:
- One year previous experience as registered dietitian preferred.
Licensure/Certificates:
- New York State Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist within 6 months of hire.
- Registration from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (ADA) within 6 months of hire.
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer knowledge.
Physical Requirements:
- The work is primarily sedentary, however, some standing and walking is involved.
- Can be on feet a large majority of day.
- Works in both hot and cold internal environment.
- Lift objects weighing less than ten pounds on occasion (files, reference books).
