The Meadows Psychiatric Center is a 119-bed inpatient behavioral healthcare facility located on a beautiful 52-acre campus in Centre Hall, PA. Our team has an immediate opening for an experienced Dietary Aide to join our team.

The position of Dietary Aide is a full time position. While our primary shift need is for the early morning shift which begins at 6am (to prepare breakfast and lunch; assist with serving line), all members of the team must be flexible to work the later shift which begins at 10am (lunch and dinner) if needed.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • The Dietary Aide position will be assisting with the preparation of patient trays as well as serving of meals and foods according to hospital menu as well as meals for patients with modified diets.
  • Serve meals to staff purchasing meals from cafeteria.
  • Responsible to portion food according to menu and directions from department Director. Must consistently portion the food and notify Cook staff if items need replenished.
  • Prepare and stock the fresh food bar items and al a carte bar items.
  • Serve food with associated condiments and in visually pleasing manner.
  • Utilize a professional and positive communication style with all customer groups.
  • Utilize proper safety and food service infection control protocols at all times.
  • Re-stocking of paper products, plastic wear, cups, fountain drinks machine, coffee machine, iced tea machine and condiments station. Re-stocking of items is necessary both in the cafeteria as well as on the individual kitchen areas of each patient unit.
  • Assist with cleaning of food stations, counters, tray line, tables, chairs, vacuum food debris from dining area floor and related tasks between meal groups and at other times as directed.
  • Assist with preparation of food items, paper products, and serving for hospital special functions as assigned.
  • This position participates in a weekend and holiday rotation schedule and food services team members are required to maintain a dependable, attendance to work profile including weekend and holiday scheduled shifts. (Schedule is prepared a minimum of one month in advance.)

Job Requirements:
Our ideal candidate will have previous experience preparing meals in an institutionalized setting and take pride in the presentation and taste of all foods they prepare

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; with vocational or other formal culinary education, preferred.
  • Knowledge of food service, food safety and sanitation is required. ServSafe or similar Food Service Certification is preferred. Will be required to become ServSafe certified within first year of employment.
  • At two years of food/meal preparation, portioning, and serving experience is preferred. Experience with cooking is a plus.
  • Previous customer service experience is preferred.
  • Dependable and reliable work and attendance profile.
