The Law Foundation of Silicon Valley (LF) advances the rights of historically excluded individuals and families across Santa Clara County through legal services, strategic advocacy, and educational outreach. We serve over 10,000 individuals and families each year through our Housing Program, Children & Youth Program, and Health Program. Our attorneys, social workers, and advocates use legal advocacy as a tool for social change by crafting inventive solutions to the legal issues facing low-income people in our region.
With a staff of 90 employees, we are the largest provider of free legal services in the South Bay region of the Bay Area. The Law Foundation of Silicon Valley is seeking to hire a Development Associate to support the development team with administration and fundraising duties. Reporting to the Development Manager, Partnerships and Events, the Development Associate is an integral part of the fundraising team and works closely with all team members. The Development Associate has strong attention to detail, enjoys making a difference in our community and values working collaboratively with a team.
What You'll Do
- Support the department with regular quarterly events, including setting up ticket sales, sending reminders, arranging the registration, supporting with scripts and event details
- Participate in event management during the events and take a lead role in making sure all post-event follow up is handled in a timely fashion
- Responsible for all data accuracy in the development database, including entry of donor pledges and gifts, grant requests and payments, donor demographics, contact information, event attendance, and notes relating to all individual donors, corporate partners, pro bono volunteers and grant support
- Merge, print, and mail all gift acknowledgement letters, direct mail appeals, and other solicitations and thank you letters as needed; the Law Foundation strives to recognize gifts within 48 hours of receipt
- Work with Finance department on monthly report reconciliation, including credit card reports, Network for Good online giving, invoicing and collection of pledge payments; follow-up on outstanding payments, through email and phone, with professional communication and excellent customer service skills
- Prepare donor history and status reports and maintain accurate lists on the website, update monthly
- Send, track, and follow-up on all annual partnership pledge communication; this requires detailed personal communication with specific information based on donor giving levels
- Prepare and send year-end donor tax statements and maintain email address lists in Constant Contact
- Assist the Development Team on special projects, as needed
Who You Are
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with data entry, running reports, and maintaining a database preferred
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a non-profit setting, Development preferred
- Strong customer service skills
- Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment

The annual base salary range for this role will be $65,000 - $70,000 depending on experience. Generous benefits are provided including:

Location
Law Foundation is a hybrid workplace and staff will be required to commute to our San Jose offices 2+ days per week. As long as staff can meet the requirements above, including commuting at their own expense, staff may live anywhere in California. Due to logistical challenges regarding taxes, insurance, and time zones, we are not able to consider staff in other states at this time.
