What you will be doing:
Produces and details routine drawings/layouts of basic components, facilities and/or systems.
Performance Shall Include:
· Generates and/or modifies two-dimensional drawings based on information from others.
· Develops basic computer-aided design (CAD) drawings and design models under the direction of a senior designer
What You Need/Minimum Job Requirements:
· Mechanical Design Experience
· Experience designing mechanical hardware assemblies and applying engineering concepts to mechanical designs.
· Working knowledge of ASME Y series design/drafting standards, including Y14.5M Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
· Experience with Creo Parametric 3D CAD Software.
· Manufacturing Experience Knowledge of hardware fabrication processes.
· Communication and Teamwork Demonstrated effective and efficient written and verbal communication skills.
· Demonstrated record of developing constructive, cooperative working relationships and working with teams to meet deliverables.
· Demonstrated experience with CREO and PDMLink Product Lifecycle Management Software.
· Demonstrated mechanical design experience with the weapons program.
· Experience with ASME Y14.41
· Digital Product Definition Data Packages and annotated models.
· Experience with practices and procedures used in the Nuclear Security Enterprise for conveying design intent to other national laboratories and production plants.

Desired Qualifications:
- Design and/or construction experience in nuclear, accelerator, laboratory, or industrial facility operations.
- Demonstrated ability to review material take-offs against project documents to ensure compliance with design and specifications.
- Basic knowledge of engineering and construction techniques, applications of engineering and construction methods, and application of technology and tools to conventional facility operation and construction operations.
- Experience with design and/or installation of facility and infrastructure systems.
- Demonstrated experience using and interpretating industry, regulatory, or Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to the particular construction discipline.
- Knowledge of DOE and LANL Engineering Standards and Conduct of Engineering.
Education/Experience:
· Associates of Science degree in design/drafting or engineering practices, or equivalent work experience and directly applicable mechanical design experience.
