Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification):
  • Minimum of 1-year experience with Hamilton County Sheriff or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must be eligible for RCIC/LEADS certification.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
KNOWLEDGE OF: Department policies and procedures; office practices and procedures; legal terminology; legal filings/documents; computer operations, techniques, and procedures; data entry operation and procedures.
ABILITY TO: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and other law enforcement personnel; communicate effectively by phone and interact with the general public; proofread technical material; collect, verify, and enter data from multiple sources; analyze records; ensure thorough and accurate data are maintained; recognize problems and correct errors; maintain efficient workflow patterns; follow oral and written instructions.
SKILL IN: Data entry; typing; operation of modern office equipment (e.g., computer, copier, calculator, etc.)
Job Duties (Summary):
  • Operates a computer to enter, modify, or delete data to produce documentation of a detailed, complex, and technical nature; enters arrest information into the criminal databases (CLEAR/RCIC and CMS); verifies that prisoners are admitted and released from the facility by established procedures.
  • Implements a multitude of procedures to maintain the operation of the department (i.e., validate and enter indicated cases, merge criminal records, apply Foreign National Procedure, examine and cancel expunged records, acquire fugitive detainers, notarize criminal documents); performs various clerical tasks (i.e., preparing forms, generating reports, answering telephones, and assisting the public).
  • Serves as liaison with other agencies to clarify/confirm data; interviews incoming prisoners to collect and verify their personal information; operates office equipment (i.e., computer, copier/scanner, fax machine, Release Fast ID System.)
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
