BE is seeking a Customer Trainer to join our team that supports the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Integrated Acquisition System (IAS). IAS provides a modern, integrated e-procurement system to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) acquisition community. Currently, IAS has over 5,000 active users across multiple agencies. Part of that support includes a Training Team that is responsible for:
- Conducting virtual training sessions for IAS end users
- Managing the training registration for those sessions
- Maintaining an in-depth user guide
- Developing training materials as new system changes are implemented or when the needs of the IAS user community changes
- Continuously improving the IAS training program

- The day to day responsibility for the candidate may change depending on customer priorities and the training schedule. The primary responsibilities for the Customer Trainer will be to create and maintain documentation:
- Develop training materials to assist the IAS user community
- Materials are usually Word documents or PowerPoint presentations
- Development of materials may require working with members of the development team to understand new functionality. The candidate may be required to analyze the system changes and recommend a training approach based on their subject matter expertise.
- Updating the IAS user guide
- IAS user guide is comprised of several large Microsoft Word documents
- Creating materials for new training courses
- Materials are usually Word documents or PowerPoint presentations
- The Customer Trainer may be required to conduct end user training as part of a regular rotation or support other activities for end user training:
- Conducting virtual training sessions to end users
- The number of sessions per week ranges from one to three sessions
- The scheduled training time for each session ranges from two to seven hours
- Some sessions are lecture only while other allow students to utilize a “sandbox” for creating transactions
- Managing/assisting in the registration of students in training sessions
- Recommending improvements to the IAS training program
- Designing and developing new training curriculums
- While a knowledge of specific IAS applications is not required for this position, a successful applicant will be expected to learn the applications and be able to train end users on the applications as quickly as possible.
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong writing skills, with an emphasis on writing that is based on best practices for adult education
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Word
- Ability to work with technical resources to understand system changes and assess the impact to end users
- Ability to be a flexible team player and collaborate with co-workers in an all-remote work environment
- Able to obtain a public trust clearance
- Experience in conducting virtual training
- Experience in designing and developing training curriculums
