Customer Research Field Worker

As a Customer Research Field Worker, you will collect data from SEA passengers and other Port of Seattle customers by conducting short interviews, surveys, and observing and recording customer behavior to help improve the Port of Seattle’s efficiency and support informed planning and decision making.
- You will administer large scale, longitudinal studies including the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Survey, the Enplaning Passenger Survey (EPS), and the International Arrival Experience Survey (IAES) by recruiting passengers who are departing or arriving for study participation and collecting data.
- You will conduct data collection for ad hoc survey research projects, including self-administered surveys, conducting short interviews with customers, and recording observations of customer behavior.
- You will inform passengers about the studies, provide information regarding airport amenities as requested, and answer questions and provide pertinent information as requested.
- You will create reports on data collection activities.
- You will create data collection schedules according to flight schedules, adapt schedules as flights change to ensure getting expected sample size and flights according to sample guidelines.
- You will oversee electronic people counters and data collection kiosks, including installing and removing counters, downloading data from counters, organizing data in summary spreadsheets, troubleshoot, and update software.
- You will train interviewers, including how to approach and communicate with passengers, the SEA Airport Customer Service Standards, how to use tablets and software, how to follow sampling scheme, and how to track progress on data collection.
- You will complete ACI required training and obtain field researcher certification.
- Experienced – You have two (2) years’ experience in customer service and some experience collecting data
- Educated – You possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Desired – We hope you have an Associates degree and four (4) years’ experience conducting research by administering surveys and conducting short interviews and observations.

- Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will vary. You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Work Environment – You will primarily work indoors.
- Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
- COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement – Effective, November 15, 2021, the Port of Seattle will require that at the time of hire, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be able to provide proof of their full COVID-19 vaccination status, as part of the hiring process. This is a condition of employment for all positions at the Port of Seattle. - Overtime Eligible – You are eligible for overtime pay in this role.
- Safety Requirements – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
