Custodian Job at City of Northglenn
This position is primarily located at the Northglenn Justice Center in varying shifts
This is semi-skilled and unskilled manual labor in the cleaning of municipal buildings and in performing minor maintenance work. Work may be done independently.
An employee in this class performs routine and repetitive cleaning and maintenance functions. work is performed under the general supervision of a technical or administrative superior in accord with prescribed procedures and policies. Work may occasionally include responsibility for overseeing the work of other custodial personnel, volunteers, and community services workers. Work is reviewed through inspection of results obtained.
Sweeps, mops, washes, scrubs, strips, vacuums, and waxes floors by hand or machine; dusts and polishes furniture and woodwork; washes windows, screens, sills, woodwork, doors, walls and ceilings; performs minor building maintenance repairs and inside painting.
Cleans, sanitizes and restocks restrooms; dusts and vacuums rooms; locks and unlocks doors and windows.
Collects trash, disposes of waste; replaces light bulbs; performs minor building repairs requiring limited special skills as directed and reports other needed repairs to supervisors.
Operates mechanical sweepers and buffers.
Installation of paper towels, soap, toilet paper and chemical dispensers. Mounts and installs bulletin boards, calendars, pictures, etc.
Moves furniture, supplies and equipment manually or by use of hand truck.
Shovels snow, spreads snowmelt, maintains sidewalks and assists in keeping outside premises in a safe and orderly condition.
Secures work area and/or facility in a safe and orderly fashion when work is completed.
Open and closing of facility including locking doors and setting alarm systems.
Prepares surfaces for painting and performs painting assignments.
Performs set-up and break down of room rentals; assists with specials events.
Other duties as assigned.

Due to the location of this position at the Northglenn Justice Center, candidates must be able to pass Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) compliance testing within 2 week of hire, and must maintain compliance.
Requires high school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in custodial or general maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the following knowledge's, abilities and skills:
Working knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, materials and equipment.
Working knowledge of the operation and care of sweeping, vacuuming and polishing machines and related equipment.
Ability to do manual cleaning and related labor and to work continuous hours while standing.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.

DESCRIPTION & BENEFITS
Regular Full-Time
Employee works in a position that is classified as 40 hours per week. Eligible for full benefit package including medical, dental, life and LTD insurance; pension and general leave and optional benefits.
Regular Part-Time 30+
Employee works in a position that is classified as 30+ hours per week. City pays contribution toward employee only medical and dental insurance. Employee can pay the difference to cover spouse and/or children. Life & LTD insurance coverage is provided. Employee participates in the City's pension plan and the City contributes to the plan. Employee accrues general leave on a pro-rated basis and optional benefits.
Regular Part-Time 20+
Employee works in a position that is classified as 20+ hours per week but less than 30 hours. City pays contribution toward employee only medical insurance. Employee accrues general leave on a pro-rated basis and the City pays 3.75% toward deferred compensation and optional benefits.
Regular Part-Time
(less than 20 hours/wk)
Employee works is a position that is classified as less than 20 hours per week. Employee accrues general leave on a pro-rated basis and the City pays 3.75% toward deferred compensation.
Part-Time (No Benefits)
Employee works in a position that is classified as a "no benefit" position (i.e., Fitness Instructor, Scorekeeper, Substitute Lifeguard). Employee is not eligible for benefits and pays 7.5% toward deferred compensation.
Seasonal/Temporary
Employee works in a position that is classified as a short-term position, is not eligible for benefits and pays 7.5% toward deferred compensation.
