Position Summary:
The Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH) COVID-19 Containment Division (CCD) is responding to the public health emergency of COVID-19 in Philadelphia. During the period of active COVID-19 transmission, PDPH is working continuously to detect new cases of COVID-19, identify sources of transmission, control spread and protect vulnerable populations. The primary approaches to achieve and maintain disease control include containment strategies (case investigation, contact tracing, social distancing), widespread testing, protection of vulnerable populations, and vaccination. Throughout periods of containment, and eventual suppression and recovery, these approaches seek to maintain declining transmission levels, and effectively manage outbreaks to prevent widespread transmission from occurring. The division emphasizes health equity to address disparities and protect vulnerable populations.
