REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES

Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of County Commission Administrative Specialist Part Time -19. The hourly rate for this position is $ 22.8585.

This exciting part time -19, non-benefit eligible opportunity will work at the highest level of Broward County Government. This self-driven, dynamic candidate will directly support the Public Information Officer with writing, researching and presenting official County announcements that include but are not limited to: taking and editing photographs and videotaped statements for publications and social media; effectively creating, proofreading, presenting proclamations, and have a general passion to work with the residents of Broward County.

Additionally, the ideal candidate must have must possess excellent communication, verbal and written skills; have the ability to collaborate, coordinate and effectively maintain relationships with high- level county officials and be able to work in a high- paced environment. Other responsibilities include meeting multiple deadlines and performing various clerical duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Requires two (2) years of experience in writing press releases, reports, proclamations, articles and creating and publishing social media content, or closely related experience

Special Certifications and Licenses:

Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver’s License based on area of assignment.

Preferences:

Two (2) months or more experience performing functions in the field of journalism, marketing, public relations, and or TV Production/Radio


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.


Performs a variety of duties including but not limited to the following:

Able to research and gather information to skillfully write creative government proclamations to be presented by Broward County Commissioners at public meetings.

Composes media releases. Creates content for social media use. Edits video and takes photos for social media use and public statements.

Must be able to proofread typewritten material for accuracy; checks reports for accuracy and conformance to policies and standards; assists in preparing agendas for meetings and conferences; makes appointments and maintains calendar; acts as receptionist and answers requests for non-technical information, orders supplies and equipment.


Assembles and summarizes material from files; cross-references data and locates information requested by general instructions from the supervisor; keeps various activity and production records which may involve assembling reports from other sections of the department.


Assists employees in other locations by relaying instructions, advising on agency policies and requesting information needed by supervisor.


Performs related work as assigned.
