Job Posting Life Recovery Services Counselor

Job Summary:

The Life Recovery Services Counselor with minimal supervision and a high level of personal initiative will be responsible for screening, assessment, referral and service coordination for clients, families, and groups to promote sustained recovery. The counselor will be responsible for providing referrals within the United Way service network for additional services as needed. The counselor will be responsible for promotion of services, documentation of the client’s journey and follow ups with clients.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Coaches’ clients individually and in group sessions, to assist in overcoming substance use disorders, increasing the quality of life, and self-sufficiency. Maintains confidentiality of records relating to clients’ services.

· Coaches’ clients in the development of skills and strategies based on their goals and needs. Encourages clients to express their feelings and to discuss what is happening in their lives and helps them develop insight into themselves and their relationships.

· Collects information about clients through interviews, observations, and screening/assessments. Prepares and maintains service records, data entry, referral and follow up documentation, and reports.

· Evaluates clients’ physical or mental condition based on review of client information. Develops and implements service plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.

· Acts as a client advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.

· Attendance at United Way meetings, become BACODA’s liaison with UW network of services

· Providing appropriate referrals

· Providing follow-ups on a scheduled basis

· Communicating clearly with Supervisor any challenges, successes, and other pertinent details

· Support the mission of BACODA

Required Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of standardized assessment/evaluation tools

Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for ethical and appropriate SUD counseling and service provision

Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics

Ability to promote services in the community

Ability to work with individuals of all ages

Education and Experience:

Bi-lingual a plus

Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor with current state credentials and licensing required.

5+ years’ experience in Life Recovery Services counseling

IT experience – comfortable with Zoom, Excel, data entry

Prefer some experience in ATOD prevention services

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Local travel required

Going in and out of buildings
