Job Duties
Responsible for proving timely responses to patient’s written and verbal account inquiries by researching any issues and making needed corrections, resolve all patient returned checks, manage the Financial Hardship program, comply with Risk management instructions on accounts, review and handle patient Bankruptcy and Probate Claims. Responsible for getting approval for responses to subpoenas and
providing statements requested by attorneys. Assist in answering customer Service ACD calls when needed.
Essential Functions
- Prioritize job functions and comply with follow-up timeframes.
- Resolve all patient return checks until paid, filed with State Attorney’s office or deemed uncollectible.
- Comply with Risk Management requests and adjustments.
- Review to verify balances and make the necessary adjustments related. Probate related accounts. File Proof of Claims where possible.
- Respond to Attorney request and Subpoenas timely according to HIPAA guidelines and company policy.
- Review to verify balances and make the necessary timely adjustments related to patient Bankruptcy cases.
- Manage the Financial Hardship application process for approval, denial or incomplete status. Apply the necessary adjustments.
- Facilitate to a resolution patient complaints regarding billing. Communicate key issues to other department management personnel as needed. Send timely follow up communication to ensure the necessary actions are completed.
- Review and interpret electronic remits and EOB's to verify that the account balances are correct. Make appropriate insurance and selfpay adjustments. Obtain adjustment approvals as needed.
- Research and respond in writing to patient written account inquires and requests on paper and electronically via EPIC MyChart. Assist in answering Customer Service line calls when needed.

Job Requirements:

- Ability to communicate effectively and courteously, both orally and in writing.
- Concisely communicate and relate to all levels of the organization, customers and outside agencies.
- Attention to detail and quality of work.
- Demonstrated self-motivation, ability to work independently with particular attention to detail and accuracy.
- Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Medical terminology and comprehensive understanding of coding, reimbursement, documentation analysis, and medical terminology.
Experience Requirements
2 years Physician Medical billing, including follow-up required
2 years Customer service required
1 year Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required
Up to 1 year Written Communication required
Up to 1 year Epic Medical Billing software preferred
Education Requirements
High School Diploma required
