Full-time position available with the City Manager’s Office, Corrections Division, 511 East 11th Street. Normal Work Days/Hours: 24/7 operation work hours may vary. Officers use the appropriate restraints while transporting in custody to and from several locations which may include, Court, Hospitals, Jails or treatment facilities. All morning court transports enter through the KCPD tunnel. Performs a pat down search for personal items, items will be placed in a property bag with name written on it. All money will be counted and verified in front of custody, camera view and or another officer if available. Envelopes will be sealed and signed by custody and officer. Interacts with in custody in a professional manner utilizing appropriate communication skills and good decision making. Prepares various reports such as incident reports, use of force, vehicle log use. Monitors in custody for signs of unusual behavior, improper conduct or signs of conflict. Assists in courtrooms to monitor, place into custody and transport prisoner within the Municipal Court building as needed. Applies only necessary force to gain control of prisoner. Possesses basic computer skills and ability to operate communication devices such as two-way radios. REQUIRES high school graduation. Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. May be required to possess a valid MO Class A, B or C CDL prior to the end of the probationary period as determined by the department. Must be eligible to obtain a special police commission as issued by the KCMO Police Department. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.
