This job is a full time, benefited, FLSA exempt position in the Education Division that reports to the Dean of Education.
Schedule - 40-hours per week, on campus, at the Lawrenceville campus; Monday through Friday; May occasionally work at the Alpharetta-North Fulton Campus
Salary: Targeted salary is commensurate with education and experience
Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 11213 Category X)
Bachelor’s degree *and* Two (2) years related work experience
Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the minimum qualifications, a Master’s degree OR a Bachelor’s degree AND 18 hours of graduate level coursework in a Basic Science related field (i.e. Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Physics, or Chemistry). He/she must have teaching/tutoring experience with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. In addition, he/she must have a background in assisting with the development of workshops that are geared towards enhancing study skills and academic success.
Job Description Summary:
The Open Lab Coordinator will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and operating the peer-tutoring Open Lab on the Lawrenceville & Alpharetta-North Fulton campuses of Gwinnett Technical College. Duties will include teaching one (1) developmental biology or biology course, working in the Open Lab, marketing the Open Lab, hiring of tutors/assistants and work-study students for the Open Lab, organizing and creating science study skills workshops, and tracking data and assessments for the Open Lab. Additionally, the Open Lab Coordinator will coordinate scheduling of classroom and open labs for Anatomy & Physiology, provide support to Anatomy & Physiology faculty, manage and obtain supplies and materials for Anatomy & Physiology, and coordinate the set-up of Anatomy & Physiology lab activities and exams.
