The Department of Food & Nutrition at Brookhaven Hospital is pleased to announce openings for Cook/Server for food preparation, cleaning, and sanitation. This position will be PRN or part-time on a regular basis. Brookhaven Hospital specializes in the rehabilitation of adults with neurologic disorders such as acquired brain injury. Our Joint Commission accredited, CARF accredited, and CMS certified, 64-bed hospital is growing, and we are seeking professionals who are committed to being team players with high standards and excellent treatment values.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and sequence tasks in order to complete all food preparation and cooking requirements in time allowed, and shift attention when presented with a more urgent task.
  • Able to plan for following day’s menu, understand dietary restrictions and requirements for adults in a healthcare environment.The responsibilities include
  • Cooks meals, prepares desserts and the salad bar
  • Responsible for providing supplemental nourishment to patients and preparing snacks for patients.
  • Checks the menus, planning for the preparation of each day's meals, and properly thawing frozen foods as needed for the following day’s menu
  • Responsible for leaving the kitchen and serving area clean and orderly in readiness for the next day
  • Assists other cooks as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must maintain Food Handlers’ Card.
  • Must have prior Healthcare experience.
  • Must be able to lift approximately 50 pounds, use hospital cleaning supplies, and perform strenuous physical work.
  • Provide consistent attendance during weekends and weekday availability.
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills to/from patients and staff.

This position has been deemed a safety sensitive position. Under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act (OMMA), safety sensitive position is defined as any job that includes tasks or duties that the employer believes could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others.
