*CROCKETT COUNTY CARE CENTER* JOB DESCRIPTION FOR MORNING COOK (SHIFT – 6:00 A.M. TO 2:30 P.M.) The cook is responsible for the preparation and serving of meals at Crockett County Care Center. *QUALIFICATIONS:* * Good physical health is required-free of all infectious diseases. * Good hygiene is required. * Must be able to communicate with fellow employees and management. * Must be committed to the goals of the Care Center. * Must be honest and reliable. * Must be willing and capable of performing all reasonable dietary duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager. * Possesses tact, diplomacy and direction. * Capable of working as a team and independently without constant supervision. * Must be able to lift/carry 40lbs 10ft/Pass the work step program. *RESPONSIBILITIES:* * Responsible for performing all duties detailed in the Crockett County Care Center policies and procedures manual under sections for Morning Cook and Afternoon Cook. * Responsible for receiving and following instructions from the Dietary Manager and in his/her absence, instructions from the Assistant Food Supervisor. * Responsible for assisting fellow employees in their duties as needed. *DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:* 1.Turn on lights. 2. Unlock doors. 3. Check Care Center diet roster, make new patient cards as needed. Turn down all NPO patients’ cards. 4. Start morning meal. Serve Care Center at 8:00 AM. After breakfast service, clean kitchen; assist the morning helper with any remaining dirty dishes. 5. Start noon meal. Cook is responsible for preparation of all meats, vegetables, breads, and desserts. See that meats are thawed/thawing for future use. Check diets; be sure to allow for any special foods/diets. Ask helpers assistance if necessary. 6. Start first serving of lunch for the Care Center Residents at 11:30 AM. 7. Make food preparations for the next day. Check ahead for possible menu substitutions or products needed. 8. Do cleaning as assigned. 9. Clock out at 2:30 PM. Overtime only on approval. Cooks will work as helpers when assigned/designated.
