JOB DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker is growing and we are searching for a construction services Department Manager to join our the Lansing, MI office

The successful candidate will work at on-site client locations throughout the state of Michigan. They will be responsible for monitoring contractor activities, coordinating inspectors’ activities, and maintaining project quality standards.

• Manage multiple civil and transportation construction projects in Michigan including serving as Project Construction Leader for MDOT projects
• Provide technical support and oversight to assigned project staff
• Maintain and manage client relations for assigned projects
• Perform business development activities for Michigan construction services and be recognized for major project delivery of similar assignments
• Prepare proposals for Construction Management services
• May assist with design projects between field assignment

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction, or related field
• 15+ years of experience, with a minimum of 5 years as a Project Construction Leader on medium to large scale civil and transportation infrastructure projects
• Michigan PE License
• Working experience with MDOT
• Proficiency with Field Manager, MDOT Standard Specifications, Construction Materials Manual (CMM), Facilities Development Manual (FDM) and Microsoft Office Suite
• MDOT Highway Technician Certification Program (HTCP) certifications desirable
• Good analytical skills, Excellent technical writing, and communication skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in organization and presentation of documentation

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $135,000-$200,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
