And we're looking for a Colloidal Chemist!

About the position:

E Ink California, LLC. is seeking an experienced colloidal chemist with a polymer science background to join the R&D team to be the champion for novel particle design, synthesis, and colloidal formulation. As part of an innovative research team, this candidate will bring strong synthesis expertise to the team and contribute to new materials research and development in the field of electrophoretic displays (EPD)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop novel chemistry and processes of particle synthesis and particle surface modification that are stable in non-aqueous media for electrophoretic displays
    • Develop analytical methods for colloids of pigment particles and perform extensive characterizations on particle surface charge, functionality, particle chemical composition, particle-size distribution, colloidal stability, and colloidal rheology
    • Determine structure/property relationships, identify mechanism, correlate particle and colloidal properties to the final EPD performance, identify parameters that are critical to function, and improve EPD performance based on particle surface chemistry design

Qualifications:

  • PhD in colloidal chemistry, polymer chemistry, surface chemistry, emulsion polymer, nano science and technology, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience in organic or inorganic particle synthesis, surface modification, polymerization and characterization techniques of particles and their dispersions
  • Goal-oriented self-starter, capable of independently executing complex research projects
  • Enthusiastic and motivated collaborator, highly creative, innovative, and committed to continuous learning

Industrial experience on particle synthesis is preferred
